Solar Hot Water System for poolsSolar panels can be an energy efficient way to consuming less to heat water for swimming pools.

With this solution you can use the hot water produced by thermal collectors to heat the pool, as well as for normal use (shower, kitchen, washing machine, etc.).

In the case of swimming pools, the solar thermal systems allow an extension of the period of use and some degree in water.

Moreover, the economic savings achieved are extremely interesting because the needs of thermal pools (especially indoors) is enormous.

Solar Sun RingDo they work – not sure how to test that… They cover the pool and let light through and keep the water under cover, therefore they should keep the heat, chlorine, and evaporation controlled.

The two 12′ rings are much easier to roll up and manage with 1 person, and then the 6 smaller rings fill in the gaps and are also easy to manage.

pool solar coverSolar Blankets are made from a film of thousands of tiny bubbles, which work together to collect and retain heat in your pool.

It floats on top of the water and allows the solar energy to pass through, then traps it as retained heat in the pool.

It will easily increase the pool temperature by 10 to 15 degrees and will reduce heating costs up to 75%.

The Solar Breeze has internal storage batteries that are charged by the photovoltaic solar panels it has on its surface.  Solar is the only source of power for the solar-breeze.

The solar breeze eliminates the need of swimming pool pumps therefore it saves the electricity costs which are 66% of total maintenance costs.

Residential solar water heating #1The Gatsby Hollywood has announced it will be Metro L.A.’s first all solar-powered, all-green urban community. The enclave is now under construction on the corner of Hollywood’s Fountain and Wilcox Avenues. A first for the area, the all-new, single-family-home community offers premier sun-powered features and a Certified California Green Builder stamp of approval. This collection of 34 detached homes will reduce each resident’s carbon footprint, while lowering monthly utility bills by as much as 60%.

Homes include solar roof panels that generate clean energy from the sun. The solar panels collect sunlight, which is channeled to an inverter and converted to electricity for household use. Any unused electricity is fed back into the energy grid and the local utility company may give credit for the unused energy.

Pool Heating Payback PariodThe purchase of a swimming pool heater should be an informed choice. If you’ll only be using your pool when temperatures are above freezing, then you’ll probably only need unglazed collectors.

An unglazed solar pool heating system usually costs between $3,000 and $4,000 to buy and install.  This provides a payback of between 1.5 and 7 years, depending on your local fuel costs.

Therefore, before you purchase and install a solar pool heating system, you should do the following:

It really doesn’t even require a professional installation tech, though there are advantages to having someone with experience handle the job for you. But if your one of those people that don’t mind getting your hands dirty then read on.

Before be sure You have:

  • Already sized your pool
  • Got your panels
  • Chosen a solar controller

pool solar blanketSolar Pool Covers are the least expensive kind of swimming pool covers.   They are also called solar blankets.  Solar Pool Covers or Blankets resemble giant sheets of bubble wrap. The bubbles trap heat from the sun and transmit the heat to the pool, keeping the water temperature warm and inviting.  The solar cover also helps to trap the heat of the water and prevents its escape into the cool night time air.

Pool Solar ControllerThe solar controller is a key component in your new swimming pool solar heating system. Though it is possible to plumb the solar system with no controller, it would be running whenever the water was being filtered. This would not be recommended, since you only want to run your solar when it can actually collect heat from the sun, otherwise it actually acts in reverse and cools your pool.
